Places where we normally fly
 
 
I hoped to have a set of small maps on this page, but for now descriptions will have to do:
Ruimsig (Roodepoort Athletics Stadium)

  • From the N1 highway (Roodepoort side)
  • Take the 14TH AVENUE offramp
  • Turn towards the Hyperama (i.e. west)
  • At the last set of traffic lights under the highway flyovers, turn right onto the R47/M47 (old R47 is now M47) road to Tarlton
  • Drive along this road until you get to HANDICAP ROAD and turn right. (This is a fair distance along, past the Palm Nursery)
  • Go straight through the stop street and the Stadium will be in front and to your left
  • At the T-junction, turn right and the large flat areas will be on your left.
    Easy Lawn ("Grass farm")

  • If you are coming from Sandton/Pretoria on the N1 highway, take the DF MALAN offramp and turn right into DF MALAN to go back over highway
  • Take the first road left (JIM FOUCHé)
  • At the second set of traffic lights, turn left into JG STRIJDOM
  • Turn left into CORNELIUS (at the Palm Court shopping centre)
  • Follow the road to the bottom (Easy Lawn)
  • Park outside as we have permission to fly there, provided we park outside!
    LC de Villiers Sports Grounds
  • We are not allowed to fly at Tukkies anymore and will have to find another regular flying location REAL soon!
    Emmerentia Dam

  • Coming down DF MALAN from the north (N1), turn left into THOMAS BOWLER (opposite West Park Cemetary)
  • Park at the "Rose Garden" parking of the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens (the whole park is generally/also known as Emmerentia Dam)
  • This parking is the third on the right and is marked "Rose Garden"
  • Follow the path past the Slave Bell through the trees to the open grass areas.
